Our Story

How we started

India is the world's largest milk producer, contributing nearly 25% to global milk production. It directly employs more than 80 million people. However, they are mainly small dairy farmers. Reports suggest that they regularly face challenges in accessing financial, technological, infrastructural, and market resources. These barriers not only prevent farmers from fully realizing their potential but also negate their stable income. Addressing these issues Is the need of the hour for the betterment of farmers as well as ensuring the long-term sustainability of the dairy industry. To solve these many problems, DeshiMoo offers a tech-enabled, one-stop solution. Our business model aims to empower farmers by providing them with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to run successful dairy operations. By establishing a franchise-based dairy farm network, where smallholder farmers can own and operate their farms while adhering to well-defined standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by our company, we offer a pathway to stable and consistent income.

DeshiMoo: A Hyperlocal Cow-to-consumer supply Chain Revolution in Dairy

DeshiMoo was established on 9th of January 2020. DeshiMoo is pioneering a transformative approach to the dairy supply chain by establishing a hyperlocal Cow-to-consumer network that connects primary producers ie farmers directly with consumers. Based in Patna district, Bihar, our organization is committed to fostering a decentralized model of milk production and delivery. Through this innovative model, we aim to reshape the traditional dairy industry by offering high-quality Indian breed fresh & chilled cow milk directly from farmers to the doorstep of consumers. In doing so, we ensure transparency, traceability, and a more sustainable dairy ecosystem for both producers and consumers involved.

The Concept of Hyperlocal Cow to Consumer Supply Chain

In a conventional dairy supply chain, multiple intermediaries—such as wholesalers, distributors, and retailers—play a role between the producer and the final consumer. This process often leads to an increase in prices, lower quality due to extended storage and transport times, and a lack of transparency in sourcing. DeshiMoo is changing this by implementing a hyperlocal Cow-to-consumer supply chain model. Our hyperlocal Cow-to-consumer network eliminates intermediaries by connecting consumers directly with farmers. By sourcing milk straight from the farm, we ensure that consumers receive the fresh, highest quality milk possible, delivered right to their doorsteps. Our decentralized approach allows us to maintain a streamlined and efficient supply chain, where milk collection, processing, and delivery happen locally within the Patna district and surrounding areas. This helps us keep costs lower for consumers while ensuring that the prices paid to farmers are fair and transparent. The benefits of this model are mainfold. First and foremost, it ensures that milk quality is maintained, as it is delivered fresh without long transport times or refrigeration. Additionally, it minimizes the environmental impact associated with the traditional dairy supply chain, reducing carbon footprints caused by long-distance transportation and extensive storage needs.

A2 Milk: The Heart of Our Offering

DeshiMoo focuses on the collection and delivery of Indian breed fresh & chilled cow milk , which is gaining popularity due to its reputed health benefits over conventional A1 milk. We source our milk from the Sahiwal and Rath breeds of Indian cows, which naturally produce A2 milk containing, only the A2 has beta-casein protein. This protein is believed to be easier to digest and less likely to cause allergies or intolerances compared to the A1 protein found in most commercial milk. A2 milk is particularly important and beneficial for the following categories of individuals: Pregnant women: A2 milk is rich in essential nutrients and is easier to digest, promoting the health of both mother and child. Babies: With its natural goodness, A2 milk supports the healthy growth and development of your little one. Senior’s: A2 milk is gentle on digestion, making it the perfect source of nutrition for elderly family members. This focus on A2 milk is part of our broader commitment to providing consumers with natural, unprocessed dairy products that are closer to their roots. A2 milk is considered to be a healthier alternative, especially for people who suffer from digestive issues or those who are lactose intolerant. By offering A2 milk, DeshiMoo ensures that customers have access to milk that is not only fresh but also nutritious and easily digestible. The production of A2 milk is central to the value proposition of Anand Sagar Dairy Farm. We work closely with local farmers who raise cows from traditional Indian breeds that naturally produce A2 milk. Through this partnership, we are not only ensuring high-quality dairy products for consumers but also promoting the preservation of indigenous cow breeds, which are often marginalized in the commercial dairy industry.

Direct Farmer-Consumer Relationship

One of the most impactful features of , the DeshiMoo supply chain model is the establishment of a direct relationship between farmers and consumers. Traditionally, farmers face challenges in receiving fair compensation for their milk, as intermediaries often take a significant share of the profits. With DeshiMoo, we ensure that farmers receive a fair price for their milk, reflecting the true value of their labour and the quality of their product. This direct connection is beneficial to both the producer and the consumer. Farmers benefit from consistent demand for their milk, reliable payments, and an increased understanding of the quality standards expected. They are also part of a community that values sustainability, quality, and ethical practices in dairy farming. On the other hand, consumers benefit from knowing exactly where their milk comes from, gaining access to fresh, natural A2 milk, and having the confidence that they are supporting local farmers. The direct relationship helps foster trust and loyalty, ensuring that both parties have a vested interest in the success of the supply chain. Moreover, by cutting out the middlemen, we ensure that the consumers get the best possible price for premium-quality milk, while farmers are paid fairly for their produce. This model allows for a winwin situation, where both sides of the supply chain benefit, thereby building a sustainable and ethical business ecosystem.

Our Franchises Model

We use a franchise concept for our business. Here, our main goal is to raise farmers' knowledge of animal husbandry. The business is committed to this endeavor and operates under the "Desi Moo" brand by Anand Sagar Natural Dairy Farm. Our goal is to empower farmers to generate income by educating them about animal husbandry and related practices. Farmers may boost their revenue and create jobs in their communities by doing this. Our approach strongly emphasizes educating farmers about the value of animal husbandry. They will receive practical, hands-on training to guarantee that they acquire real-world experience and skills. Farmers must have certain paperwork ready to sign up for animal husbandry, including their Aadhaar Card, and a cell phone number connected to an Adhar card. caste certificate, if applicable, an Aadhaar card, a mobile number connected to a bank account, and academic credentials such as scorecards, mark sheets, and school-leaving certificates.

Sustainability and Local Economic Growth

DeshiMoo commitment to sustainability is deeply embedded in its operational ethos. By sourcing milk directly from local farmers and focusing on regional distribution, we contribute to the growth of the local economy. The decentralized model promotes self-sufficiency in rural communities and reduces reliance on distant supply chains that may not be as efficient or transparent. Moreover, our focus on promoting indigenous breeds like Rathi and Sahiwal not only ensures the health benefits associated with A2 milk but also supports the conservation of these breeds, which are integral to India's agricultural heritage. These breeds are more resilient to local climate conditions and require fewer resources, making them a more sustainable option in the long term. In India, 46% of the milk produced by farmers is consumed by themselves or their close associates. Our primary objective is to reach out to these farmers and connect with them, enabling them to supply their fresh and pure milk to our customers. By keeping production local, we also contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of the dairy supply chain. We minimize the need for long-distance transportation and unnecessary packaging, aligning our operations with the growing demand for environmentally conscious businesses.

Future Outlook and Expansion

While DeshiMoo currently operates within the Patna district, our vision is to expand beyond Bihar and create a network of decentralized dairy farms across India. The goal is to connect 300 farmers with us and establish more than 5,000 franchises for providing the best Indian breed fresh & chilled cow milk, allowing more farmers to participate in a direct producer-to-consumer system. Expansion will also bring with it the potential for increased community development, job creation, and further preservation of Indigenous dairy breeds. As the demand for healthy, natural products grows, we believe Anand Sagar is positioned to play a significant role in the dairy industry's future. We are confident that the hyperlocal/franchise model will resonate with consumers across India through technological advancements, increased awareness of health benefits, and a growing desire for transparency. DeshiMoo is revolutionizing the dairy industry with its hyperlocal Cow-to-consumer, decentralized supply chain network. By providing high-quality A2 milk directly from farmers to consumers, we ensure that the milk is fresh, natural, and nutritious while also empowering local farmers. Our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and fairness positions us to redefine the future of the dairy supply chain and contribute to the development of rural economies in Bihar

Why our Products are better than pasteurized Milk?

Commercial dairy companies typically collect milk from farmers and transport it to processing plants, where it undergoes various treatments. These include homogenization, a process that mixes milk fat by forcing it through fine nozzles under high pressure, breaking fat molecules into sizes of less than 2 microns. Pasteurization is another common process, where milk is heated to extend its shelf life. Centrifugal separation is used to remove some or all of the cream to produce low-fat, skim, or reducedfat milk. Ultrafiltration employs a membrane to separate milk into different streams, concentrating fat and proteins. Reverse osmosis uses a membrane to remove most milk solids, allowing only water to pass through. Spray drying is used to remove water from milk, creating powdered milk products. However, these processes can impact milk's digestibility. Pasteurization, for instance, may promote the production of rickets and scurvy and, by eliminating non-spore-bearing bacteria, sometimes allows toxic organisms to grow, potentially producing harmful toxins. In contrast, our company offers transparency and traceability by providing fresh, raw milk, free from the delays associated with industrial processing. After milking, our farmers, under the supervision of our staff and following strict company protocols, pack the milk in eco-friendly glass bottles, labeled with the cow's name or identification number. The packed milk is then collected by our team, loaded into airconditioned vehicles to maintain the optimal temperature, and delivered to our customers within 2 to 3 hours..

What are our nearby future aspects?

Our company is implementing a model system in which we provide our delivery personnel with insulated cold bags. These bags are designed to maintain the milk at a consistent and optimal temperature, preventing spoilage and ensuring freshness throughout the delivery process. By keeping the milk cool, the bags help extend its shelf life, reduce the risk of bacterial growth, and preserve its quality until it reaches the customer. The insulation also protects the milk from external temperature fluctuations, ensuring it remains fresh and safe to consume, which is particularly important for raw or minimally processed milk. In situations where delivery may be delayed, such as due to traffic, the insulated bags prevent the milk from coagulating or spoiling due to excessive heat. This system significantly enhances the reliability of our deliveries.
